Give your site a title and description

Google works by taking a look at your site and scanning the title and description as well as the content to see how it can relate to search listings. Your site should have a relevant title and description to say what it is all about. For example, if your site is for your portfolio, you might want to set the site title as your name, and the description as an "about me" section. If the site is for your business, set the title as the business name and the description as an explanation of what your business does. Give each of your Page's a title and description

Along with setting the overall site title and description, it is equally as important to make sure every Page has a relevant title and description. The process is the same, except you navigate to the Page settings rather than the overall site settings. Check out the instructions below for more information on this process.

Add your site to your social media accounts

Alongside your site and page titles and descriptions, Google also looks where your site is mentioned on the Internet. To better increase the chance of appearing in results, add your website URL to your social media accounts. Instagram and Twitter both offer a field where you can input a website, and these are two great places to put it.
