General External Domain Setup Guide
This is a general guide for all external domain setups. Please note that you must have a Universe Base, Pro, or Complete plan in order to host a custom domain externally ✅
This article uses Squarespace as an example for the external domain host, so the appearance and location of DNS settings may vary for different hosts.
Follow these steps to set up your external domain:
1. Make sure you have a Universe Base, Pro, or Complete Subscription. You can compare the benefits here.
2. Once you've confirmed you have a paid subscription, open the Universe app, navigate to the Settings tab, and Select Domain.
3. Once there, you'll select "Already own a domain?".
4. You will then select "All Registrars".
5. Enter your external domain and select okay.
6. This should then be reflected in the app.
7. Head over to your domain host's website and navigate to the domain section.
(for this example we're using Squarespace)
8. Find where your DNS settings are located.
9. Look for and select the section titled nameservers.
9. Choose to customize your nameservers.
10. Change your existing nameservers to the following Universe nameservers:
ns1.univer.se
ns2.univer.se
ns3.univer.se
ns4.univer.se
11. Save and celebrate that you just showed those DNS settings who's boss!! 😤
**Please note that it might take some time (up to 48 hours) for nameserver records to change, but if you have any questions, please contact the support team in the app or at help@univer.se. We're happy to help in any way we can!
